Last night on Saturday Aug. 16, 2014. Roscoe Pond went to the “Maxine Zotigh Memorial Gourd Dance & Powwow.” It was held inside the campus gym of the “Southwest Indian Polytechnic Institute” (SIPI) at Albuquerque, N.M. Roscoe got there a few minutes before 6 p.m. He looked at the artist vendors before walking into the gym when the “grand entry” started. There were some 100 dancers & at least 6 powwow drum groups.
The gym was filled with natives from the ground floor & all the way up to the top bleachers. They had come from around the southwest to honor Maxine Zotigh who had passed away. She was a well known powwow dancer.
Native representatives from the “Gathering of Nations (GON) Powwow" were handing out the new GON publicity poster. The 32nd annual GON will be held at the University of New Mexico “The Pit” on April 23-25, 2015 at Albuquerque, N.M. Roscoe took a glance at the brand new GON poster, after he bought a “Santo Domingo” Indian fry bread. (It tasted so good).

Roscoe will head to the “La Fonda Hotel” in Santa Fe on Wednesday Aug. 20, 2014. He will attend the “Institute of American Indian Arts” (IAIA) gala fundraising dinner. He will also take photos & write a news article on the evening.
