The Queen City Public Square Rosary Crusade was held Saturday, October 16, 2010 on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati. Approximately 100 people attended the event.
The event honored the 93rd anniversary of the Lady of Fatima apparitions. This was the fourth year for the crusade in Cincinnati, and the third time it was held downtown. The first crusade was held at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, Norwood.
The morning commenced with a video presentation shown on the Macy's big screen television that overlooks Fountain Square. The devotional core of the event was heralded with a procession by the Knights of Columbus.
"Every corner of Cincinnati" was represented, said Pat Ashcraft, event spokesman:
- Fr. James Reutter (Pastor, Our Lady of Victory) led the Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary and Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Deacon Amado Lim (All Saints Church) led the Litany to the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Fr. Cyril Whitaker, S.J. (Associate Professory, Xavier University) delivered a Marian homily
Other local contributors provided musical accompaniment and media support.
The Cincinnati event was one of 5,823 public square rosary rallies held nationwide on Saturday. "The exciting rebirth and interest in Mary is alive at this fountain today," commented Fr. Whitaker.
The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property sponsors the America Needs Fatima campaign, to pray for the nation in these troubled times. The campaign believes human efforts to solve America’s problems are failing and that we must turn to God for real solutions.
