Last night, Examiner.com was on the scene at the 2013 US Open Kick-Off Party presented by Heineken. For the 22nd year, Heineken is serving as the official beer sponsor for the US Open, which begins on August 26 and runs through September 9. The fabulous event was held at The Dream Downtown Hotel. Celebrities in attendance included Rosario Dawson, Molly Sims, Matt Bomer, Russell Simmons and Heineken House Chef Tyler Kord.
The cocktail waitresses were dressed to match the Heineken theme and the tennis ball and beer bottle wall displays added a nice touch. The bash was held in the Penthouse of the hotel, which was only accessible through a private elevator. Fun late night food that was passed around by the gorgeous staff, including mini grilled cheeses, sliders, and fresh bruschetta. DJ Kiss was amazing at combining old school hits with new pop music and everyone else must have agreed because people were dancing in every corner of the party.
Rosario Dawson was spotted laughing with girlfriends at the bar after her photography session with Molly Sims on the red carpet. Sims' figure was back in full force after recently giving birth. Matt Bomer also attended the party and made comments in support of Wentworth Miller's recent public announcement.
For those over 21, who are headed to the US Open, Heineken is doing some really cool things surrounding the US Open. They are introducing the Heineken House, an all new experiential area where fans can enjoy the Open outside of the matches. Tennis fans can catch all the court action while lounging in cabanas or relaxing at the bar. Heineken and Heineken Light and an inspired menu from Tyler Kord, Chef/Owner of the acclaimed No. 7 Sub - with sandwiches developed by Kord and other light bites, will be served at the Heineken House. US Open attendees can master the perfect pour in a competition each afternoon with local New York bartenders as judge. Winners will receive VIP tickets to that evening’s match. Limited-edition US Open and Heineken-branded merchandise will be sold onsite. Last, but not least, guests can enjoy cornhole, and a GIF-enabled photo booth at the US Open!
Earlier that night, Serena and Venus Williams attended the 14th Annual BNP Paribas Taste Of Tennis, benefiting The James Beard Foundation at the W Hotel New York. Host Serena Williams and Marcus Samuelsson joined guests as they indulged in this year’s lineup, which included Jesse Schenker (Recette), Harold Dieterle (Kin Shop, The Marrow and Perilla), Jonathan Waxman (Barbuto), Top Chef Masters’ David Burke and Zac Young (David Burke Group), among many others.
