The Nike Vapor Iron family is comprised of the Nike Vapor Pro, the Nike Vapor Pro Combo and the Nike Vapor Speed. Each set is highlighted by Nike's newest innovation called Modern Muscle, which moves the iron center of gravity to the center of the club face. The inspiration behind Modern Muscle began when the Nike Golf team at The Oven noticed that the wear on Woods' blades could be found in the center of the club face. Traditionally, golfers would want the strikes to come towards the heel of the club in order to produce a more efficient shot. Instead of working around the issue, Nike Golf faced it head on by starting to drill holes towards the toe of his irons and filled them with a weighted tungsten plug. The Oven wanted to maintain the profile of a traditional blade but giving it the technological edge that today's golfers demand. According to Woods, the ball went further, came off more solid and flew better after using Modern Muscle but due to his injury woes this year, he has not been able to give as much time as he would want to.

McIlroy used a 2-iron prototype of the Vapor Pro Combo during his victory at the 2014 British Open. McIlroy also contributed to the development of the clubs, saying that while it was a learning experience, this was the first time a company valued his feedback and that the feeling was mutual.

Both McIlroy and Woods were also guests on Fallon's Tonight Show program that taped earlier in the day. Woods was Fallon's coach as he went up against McIlroy in a game of Facebreakers, where they each had to break pieces of glass with their faces on them with chip shots.
