Arrival Experience: This central hotel is in the heart of downtown making it the centerpiece of Sioux Falls’ revitalized city center. At the moment, it is in the process of a total renovation for the guest rooms, public areas, and façade giving it an energetic, elegant look that meets the needs of the constant flow of convention and leisure traffic that gathers at the hotel. A friendly staff handles reception while a free shuttle transports guests to and from the airport and within the surrounding area. The hotel is convenient to area restaurants, bars, cultural attractions, and the Falls on the Big Sioux River. The city even features its own free trolley system that takes guests around town in season although all of the main attractions are just a short walk away from this popular property.
Dining: The main Grille 100 restaurant serves three meals a day including an impressive breakfast buffet spread. In the lobby, the lounge and bar stays hopping with local business people or guests. Room service is available.
Accommodations: Guest rooms here are in excellent condition although they are being totally overhauled with fresh carpeting, fabrics, and sitting areas. Cable TVs are switching to newer flat-screen models, and older desk chairs are being replaced with ergonomic pivoting chairs. Pillowtop beds are covered with light duvets and stacks of thick pillows. Coffeemakers, full-length mirrors, and ample closet space are nice extras. The offering of free high speed wireless Internet is highly appreciated adding to the value of staying here. Rooms at each end of the building have balconies overlooking the city’s skyline and cathedral. Baths have been refreshed with new paint, curved shower rods, Bath & Body Works toiletries, and large towels. Renovations are slated to last until spring 2012, but are being carried out floor by floor to minimize disruption.
