Room Report: Hilton London Green Park Hotel

Arrival Experience: This American offshoot is located across the street from Flemings Mayfair, just off Park Lane, and is minutes away from the Hilton Park Lane, a nearby tube station, Hyde Park, and the ever-popular Ritz. Hilton Green Park's lobby is small, like the rest of the hotel, but the welcome from staffers is quite large and friendly. Two elevators sit just round the corner, and a small lounge area keeps guests satisfied if they must wait for their rooms. Free wireless Internet in public areas is an added boost.

Dining: Despite being within a stone's throw of some of London's best restaurants and numerous quick-serve eateries, the hotel still deserves aplomb for its Tiger Green brasserie where three meals a day unfurl with precision. Breakfast features a made-to-order omelet station and some of the friendliest, wake-me-up staffers in London. Lunch and dinner follow a more continental menu pattern, and there are surprisingly a lot of takers here. The Berry Bar does its own fair share of pouring drinks and mixing cocktails. The affordability is no doubt a factor that draws people in, especially since Fleming's, the Ritz, and Hilton Park Lane are all more expensive as expected.

Accommodations: Rooms are modern and bright sporting Hilton's refreshed scheme with pillowtop bedding, flat-screen cable TVs, and large work desks with high speed Internet (either wired or wireless). The best rooms are the fifth floor units with a small terrace overlooking the city. Hilton HHonors guests receive extra benefits including free Internet and bottled water ensuite. Armchairs by the windows are soft and plump while spacious closets house safes, robes, and slippers. Peter Thomas Roth toiletries are lovely additions to the white tiled baths with powerful water pressure and excellent lighting.

Conclusion: This hotel's central location is its strongest suit, but the friendly staff (including a very knowledgeable concierge team) is an added bonus. Americans are among the hotel's standard clientele, but all nationalities find this service-minded property to be top choice in hotel-crowded London. There is no hotel this amenity-rich at this price point by Hyde Park, which is why the rooms here are always full. Book early for one of central London's best bargains.
