One listen to the voice of rising artist Ronnette Harrison and you immediately know you've encountered something special. Her vocal delivery is saturated with a purity and sincerity that clearly establishes that she is singing for an audience of one.
When she takes to the piano, there is a oneness between her and the instrument that can easily take the listener to an ethereal plane. Earlier this week, those in town for the 44th Annual GMA Dove Awards in Nashville, Tenn. got a chance to hear the former schoolteacher as she made stops at two venues in Music City.
On Sunday, she performed at the Garden Brunch Cafe where listeners got to hear her recently released single, "Vessel." Monday night she traveled to Cathedral of Praise Church where she participated in Faith United:Nashville, exciting mix of Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists. The singer opened the night with her single and was met with resounding applause.
A popular artist in the Washington, DC area, Harrison first began performing at eleven years old with Gospel Music Hall of Fame group Shirley Ables & The Joy Gospel Singers. She's also recorded with several gospel artists, including Vicki Yohe, Shirley Caesar and Dorothy Norwood.
Most recently she has been a member of the Stellar Award winning group Isaiah D. Thomas & Elements of Praise and popular metro DC group Mike McCoy & Voices United.
The full length album "Journey" from Ronnette Harrison is expected in 2014.
Ronnette Harrison will perform Saturday, October 19 at the Benefit Concert for Gambia, Africa at 6 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. The church is located at 13205 Old Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
