Ronda Rousey says her roommate will 'dominate' in Invicta FC's 145-pound ranks

According to a Feb. 23 report from Yahoo! Sports, Ronda Rousey's roommate, Marina Shafir, may be the next big star of women's MMA.

"I'm not meant to work behind a desk or at Starbucks," Shafir told Yahoo! Sports. "I feel like I have the potential and skills to put a twist on this game."

Rousey said Shafir's fighting game is evolving at a fast rate. Once Shafir turns pro in late 2013, she plans on putting her MMA skills on display for the growing legion of women's MMA fans across the globe.

Shafir, who is also Rousey's training partner, plans to compete in the 145-pound featherweight ranks, the division that serves as home to some of the toughest female fighters in the world.

Marloes Coenen, Cris "Cyborg" Santos and Ediane Gomes are just some of the 145-pounders currently dominating in Invicta FC, and Rousey's roommate may soon find herself competing against them.

The UFC doesn't currently have a 145-pound division for women, but Invicta FC does.

"I see her going to Invicta and winning the 145-pound belt," Rousey said of her friend. "She's just going to dominate Invicta."

Invicta FC 5 will feature a No. 1 contender bout between Cris Santos and Ediane Gomes, with the winner expected to fight Marloes Coenen at Invicta FC 6 in July.

The Coenen vs Gomes-Santos bout in July will be a title fight for the inaugural Invicta FC featherweight strap.

If Shafir continues to roll, she may find herself fighting for the Invicta FC 145-pound belt before long.
