By the afternoon of Aug. 16, "The Expendables 3" had only notched a 35 percent positive rating on However, 53 percent of the audience liked it. The movie appears to be one of those critic-proof flicks, where audiences go check it out despite what film reviewers have to say about it. "The Expendables 3" is basically an old-school action thriller, which features plenty of star power.

Besides Rousey, "The Expendables 3" includes cameos by Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes and others. Does this mean the start of a beautiful new film career for Rousey? No one knows for sure, but it seems quite likely. Rousey turned in a magnificent performance in "The Expendables 3," so there's nothing stopping her from advancing on to move projects.

Here's the thing: There aren't many well-known female action stars in Hollywood these days, so Rousey could fill the gap quite nicely. Former Strikeforce star, Gina Carano, tried to make the movie to acting, after a lengthy stint in the MMA realm. It worked out well for her, but Carano hasn't really elevated her game since appearing a couple years ago in "Haywire."

Will Rousey be able to find the success in Hollywood that has eluded Carano? Time will tell how the situation pans out. So far, it's been all gravy for the UFC champ. Rousey has been able to manage her UFC career, while also finding time to star in movies. As for Carano, she appears to be interested in returning to MMA.

Getting back to "The Expendables 3," most critics seem to say Rousey was especially captivating on the big screen. The only major issue is that there wasn't enough of her. Rousey only appears in the film sporadically, so most fans are left wanting to see more out of her. Perhaps Rousey will earn a booking for the next "Expendables" sequel, and will be utilized more. The main reason why Rousey wasn't used in a greater role for "The Expendables 3" is because she was busy training for a UFC fight around the time of filming.
