Ronan Farrow slams Woody Allen on Twitter after Golden Globes award

On Sunday evening, Woody Allen was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille award at the Golden Globes. Although he was not in attendance to receive the award, CNN reports on Jan. 13 that some members of his family were displeased with the tribute.

Woody Allen's estranged son Ronan Farrow took to Twitter to document his displeasure. He wrote:

Missed the Woody Allen tribute - did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?

Famous ex Mia Farrow also tweeted her disdain when the tribute began. Her words were less harsh but just as telling.

Time to grab some icecream & switch over to #GIRLS [sic]

On Monday, Mia apparently decided to be a little less vague and had more to say about the Woody Allen tribute. Again on Twitter, she wrote:

A woman has publicly detailed Woody Allen's molestation of her at age 7. GoldenGlobe tribute showed contempt for her & all abuse survivors

And then again in response to others, Mia Farrow tweeted again:

Is he a pedophile ? Read this VanityFair article and make up your own mind.

This time the tweet included a link to a Vanity Fair article detailing the accusations made against Woody Allen over the years.

The 7-year old that Ronan speaks of is his adopted sister Dylan. Although she stayed silent for many years about the alleged abuse that she endured at the hands of Woody Allen, she has been vocal recently.

Dylan's allegations are added to what the public already knows about Allen. It is no secret that Allen carried on a relationship with "step-daughter" Soon Yi Previn while still with her adopted mother, Mia Farrow. After it was discovered and Farrow ended the relationship, Allen and Previn stayed together.

When they first began their affair, Previn was just 19-years old, Woody Allen was 56. Although not illegal, the fact that Allen acted as her stepfather and she was in fact, legally the sister of his other children, the entire drama is definitely weird. The couple have been married since 1997.

The Golden Globes tribute to Woody Allen has sparked up debate both in support of Mia Farrow and in support of Woody Allen. Many are upset and disgusted in regard to the allegations against Allen. Others argue that his personal life has nothing to do with the fact that he is a genius writer, director, producer and actor who deserves to be celebrated for his talents.

What do you think of Woody Allen winning the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes? Should he be celebrated for his talents or shunned for the allegations that follow him? Give your opinion in the comments.
