Reagan's True Legacy: he tripled the deficit (via the truly B.S. school of "supply-side economics, which made the rich richer, etc., etc.; and by increasing spending in defense, when it actually wasn't needed as reports now confirm -- Russia would run themselves into the ground anyway -- they were the first big country to stupidly go to war in Afghanistan). He cut important social programs (education, environmental programs --anyone remember James Watt?). He caved into religious fundamentalists (the religious right began to truly make inroads into Washington during Reagan's two terms), he appointed guys like the aforementioned Watts and William Bennett (Sec. of Education, the gambling addict who edited THE BOOK OF VIRTUES -- LOL -- and the idiot who was first in charge running the "War on Drugs," which went as well as the "War on Terror"), and let them reverse all the good that had been done before they held office, and...he followed the advice of his wife on when to take plane trips (and make certain decisions) -- his, as is well-known -- consulted an astrologer. There was more, but that's good for starters. Except to add this: along with all of the other screwed up things Reagan and his adminstration gave the our nation (many of the citizens of which are too stupid to remember and/or learn the actual truth of recent history), he also gave us the Political Sound Bite. It was his stupid posturing, head waggling and empty-headed grins which so many gullible and ill-educa
