As I was watching the Orlando GOP debate Thursday, there was no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul was the winner. His poignant and honest answers were a breath of fresh air, a rare treat in politics. The thing I appreciate most about Dr. Paul's answers is the fact that he launched right into answering the question, while the other candidates had to start out with their typical right-wing rhetoric and/or anti-Obama jokes before offering any real answers (if they did at all). They obviously felt that it was necessary to take those steps in order to gain the crowd's approval. Dr. Paul didn't play that game; he went right into his answer and provided the most thorough and sensible answers of the night. According to a FOX News poll after the debate, it seems that the crowd agreed with me, as Ron Paul was the clear winner at 39.27%. Mitt Romney came in second at 22.89%. Rick Perry was a distant third at only 12.8%. The lesson to be learned here is that you can use all the rhetoric and mud-slinging you want, but the real way to win is to just answer the damn question and do it well. Given the results of this poll, why did FOX News then remove the poll from their website and say that Mitt Romney won? It is because they are threatened by Ron Paul and everything he represents. Most politicians, including President Obama, are part of a "machine" which ensures that, no matter who gets elected, certain people (i.e. corporations, since they are apparently considered people now) get to choose which policies are enacted and which are killed. Dr. Paul is not a part of that machine. He is a real American with real answers for America. If he were to become our next leader, it would mean wonderful things for Americans. It would also mean bad things for politicians and billionaires who are now enjoying their free reign over the entire system.
Is there a way to elect a real person to the White House when the media refuses to cover that candidate? Yes, I believe so. The answer is social media. The beauty of Facebook and Twitter is that the information shared on these networks is shared by the people. The very people who knew that Ron Paul won also have the ability to talk about him to all of their "friends" and encourage people to vote. If you have found yourself agreeing with me, don't keep your opinions to yourself! Tell your friends and family what you believe in. If every supporter gains supporters, it is possible to defeat the system and take this country back for the people. After all, isn't that the entire point of democracy?
