Newsone reported Tuesday that a former candidate for city council in Carson, California, who also happens to be an enthusiastic Ron Paul supporter, used a racial slur in a Facebook post calling for the assassination of President Obama and his family.
Jules Manson reportedly wrote “Assassinate the f#@#en [n-word] and his monkey children” in a Facebook post that has since disappeared.
Since then, Manson has made his Facebook page private, but a screenshot of the offensive post was captured by Newsone and can be seen here.
Not only did Manson call for the President's assassination, he called for the assassination of uniformed government officials who "directly protect the state."
"This is the only way," he added.
Newsone added:
Manson is a Libertarian and a big Ron Paul supporter who would regularly post on Ron Paul’s website and Facebook page. It seems that there has been an effort to take away Manson’s online presence as his Facebook page and posts on Ron Paul’s website have been removed but several screen grabs and a google cache reveal his postings.
According to Newsone, Manson also wrote “I may be an atheist but Ron Paul is my God.”
Predictably, liberals attempted to connect this individual to the Tea Party.
A post at Crooks and Liars, for example, posted a piece calling Manson a "failed Tea Party politician" based on an article by Democrat Examiner Michael Stone, who calls Manson a "Tea Party darling" while offering no real proof of Manson's alleged Tea Party connections.
A post at Ron Paul Today notes in all-caps:
I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF THIS INDIVIDUAL WAS A COMPLETE FABRIC ATION, OR PAID BY THE ESTABLISHMENT TO DISCREDIT RON PAUL AND HIS SUPPORTERS. ANYONE THAT KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT LIBERTARIANISM KNOWS THAT LIBERTARIANISM DOES NOT SEPARATE PEOPLE INTO GROUPS, OR GIVE FAVORABLE TREATMENT OR LESS THAN FAVORABLE TREATMENT TO ANYONE. LIBERTARIANISM IS A “LIVE AND LET LIVE” PHILOSOPHY WHICH IS TOTALLY COUNTER TO RACISM. THE ESTABLISHMENT IS SCARED TO DEATH OF RON PAUL BECAUSE THEY KNOW HE IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE RUNNING THAT WILL DO WHAT HE SAYS, UNLIKE ALL THE OTHER SOCIOPATH POLITICIANS THAT SAY ONE THING BUT DOES THE OPPOSITE. JUST KNOW THAT THE HIGHER RON PAUL POLLS THEN YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO SEE MORE OF THIS GARBAGE.
Crooks and Liars added:
Okay, then. Manson ran as a "Libertarian conservative" for City Council for the City of Carson in Los Angeles County and lost. Manson was upset over the NDAA vote, although curiously, his call for assassination didn't involve anyone in Congress who overwhelmingly voted for it, nor does it explain his inclusion of the Obama children or use of really repulsive racist language.
A post at the International Business Times, however, notes there is nothing to suggest this individual is known by anyone outside his community, is not known to the Tea Party, and has no direct tie to Ron Paul, other than being a rabid supporter:
Yet for all the controversy that should rightfully follow Jules Manson's racist comments, the man himself has never been directly associated with Ron Paul, a fact that some commenters are forgetting.
Some have taken to calling Manson a "Tea Party darling" or "Tea Party favorite," despite him being almost completely unknown outside certain blogs and within the Carson, Calif. community.
Others are likely to take Manson's racism and use it to assert that Ron Paul himself is racist, despite there being no positive proof.
Jack Cole of The Examiner has been quick to try and counter that possibility, pointing out that Manson has no direct tie to Ron Paul at all: he's simply a rabid supporter looking for some sick moment in the spotlight.
"Lumping together some failed politician from California [who] happens to support Ron Paul and then implying that all Tea Party members, Ron Paul supporters, and Libertarians are racist is just off the wall," Cole wrote.
According to NBC Los Angeles, Manson apologized after Secret Service agents visited him at his home.
"Agents Corey, Andy, and Stephanie were very pleasant with me," Manson reportedly wrote on Facebook. "They must have had 30 questions. They listened to what I had to say."
Manson's actions were outrageous, but to suggest this individual represents the views of the Tea Party, especially considering the lack of any proof, is equally outrageous. It is simply the act of a mad cultist who thinks he is doing the will of the man he calls "God" - Ron Paul.
