Ron Paul supporter 'owns' Santorum photo op, Revolution PAC praises childish act

Sometimes, they're called "Paulbots."  Other times, they're called "Paulestinians," a not-so veiled reference to middle eastern terrorists.

These are, of course, the more militant Ron Paul supporters with whom political discussion is impossible.  And sometimes, their actions show the names are well-deserved.

Every day, these individuals prove they are incapable of operating at an intellectual level higher than Beavis and Butthead, the MTV cartoon characters.  Their words and actions reflect poorly on the candidate himself, and the more rational people who support the Texas Congressman.

Frequently, they act like spoiled little children, believing that their pranks actually convert people to Paul.

That was the case when one supporter of Rick Santorum wanted a picture with her candidate.

On Wednesday, Conservative Network reported:

Imagine you get a chance to get your picture taken with your favorite candidate. You’re next to your candidate. You smile, the candidate smiles, a very perfect and exciting moment in your eyes. A moment to cherish. You may be posing with the next president of our nation.

Then imagine out of the blue, someone steps in and spoils your cherished moment. That’s right, a Ron Paul supporter.
The picture, located at Ron Paul's Revolution PAC Facebook page with a post date of November 28, clearly shows a Paul supporter standing in front of Santorum holding up a bumper sticker for Ron Paul in what can only be described as a juvenile, purile act.

But, the post notes, it gets worse.  Not only does this individual ruin the photo with a childish prank, but Paul's Super PAC, Revolution PAC, actually hailed the photo.

"Anthony Grina owns Rick Santorum. #RonPaul2012— with Anthony Grina," Revolution PAC wrote.

The photo had collected 447 "likes" as of this writing and had been shared over 100 times.

"Classic," "Nicely done!" were typical of the comments on the photo.

One poster wrote:
This is great.. Rick Santorum is not an evil guy, he is just clueless.. There are some that are pure evil and apart of new world order and then there is Rick Santorum who is very nice and honest and just flat out neoconned out.
Conservative Network provided some of the previous comments:
Excellent photobomb.
got’em coach
nice encroachment !!!
I want to shake that mans hand haha, great job
Ironically, Revolution PAC highlights the letters "evol" as if to indicate "love."  But what these rabid supporters of Paul express can hardly be called "love."  At best, it is little more than a cult of personality.

It must be pointed out that not all supporters of Ron Paul are like this, but a large and growing number are.  Many support Paul because they do not see any other alternative in the GOP field.

This, of course, is not the first time Paul supporters have acted like this.

In August, Peter Roff of U.S. News and World Report wrote:

While presidential campaigns have never exactly be dignified, high-minded affairs, the current one reached a new low this week when a self-described Rep. Ron Paul supporter announced he would be taking out a full  page ad in a Texas alternative newspaper asking people to contact him if they had ever had sex with Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The ad, which appeared Thursday in the weekly Austin Chronicle, says:

HAVE YOU EVER HAD SEX WITH RICK PERRY?

Are you a stripper, an escort or just a "young hottie" impressed by an arrogant, entitled governor of Texas? Contact CASH, and we will help you publicize your direct dealings with a Christian-buzzword-spouting, "family values" hypocrite and fraud.

Roff had sharp criticism of the ad, and said Paul needed to put a stop to this kind of behavior:

The Paul supporters are known to be a dedicated bunch—some might even call them fanatics—but this goes beyond the pale of acceptable. In the long run it may prove damaging to Perry—though I doubt it—but it is already damaging to Paul because it reinforces all the negative stereotypes about his campaign and about the people who want him to be the nation’s next chief executive. If Ron Paul is serious about becoming president, if he really wants to show he is a leader, then he needs to denounce what Morrow is doing and put a stop to it.

While he's at it, he should encourage his other political children to stop acting like spoiled children, before they destroy any chance he may have to win anything.

Conservative Network concluded:

There is no plausible deniability here. Ron Paul’s own SuperPac is praising this kind of activity.
Ron Paul supporters have a serial record of rude behavior and now it’s even encouraged by his SuperPac. Ron Paul needs to denounce this.

Better yet, Iowa voters can denounce it by soundly rejecting Ron Paul in the Iowa caucus next week.
