At the CNN/Tea Party Republican debate, we saw the top 8 possible candidates that could run against President Obama in next years election. Many of the usual conservative rhetoric was heard, more tax cuts for the rich, repealing "Obamacare", TORT reform among many others. One of the biggest shockers was one that came from libertarian favorite, Ron Paul. After he was done burying Rick Perry on his job creation in Texas, Ron Paul wanted to make a point about tax cuts.
"When you give people their money back its their money, you don't have to pay for it. That means the government owns all of our money"
Ron Paul, once again, shows the delusion of the conservative mind-set. When conservatives scream and holler about taxes they don't seem to get the big picture. When a person earns a pay check, they earn that pay check because the system they are in has given them the opportunity to be successful. For our country and society to continue to grow and improve, people have to understand that we are all in this together. Taxes are essential for a country to stand tall. Taxes are what pays for the military, police, fireman, roads, bridges, tunnels, public schools and public transportation just to name a few.
Conservatives get lost in their obsession over the constitution, especially when they decide to follow only parts of it. We are all citizens of the United States of America. We enjoy certain freedoms and privileges and we have an obligation to give back to the system that has let us enjoy our country. Ron Paul and the conservatives claim they love America, but the way they act, one could only wonder.
