William Paul, 19, the grandson of former presidential candidate Ron Paul and son of U.S. Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky, was charged yesterday with assaulting a flight attendant. The alleged assault took place last weekend during a U.S. Airways flight from Lexington, Ky. to Charlotte.
William Paul, whose residence is listed as The Bowling Green, Ky. was also charged with consuming beer/wine underage, disorderly conduct, and, being intoxicated and disruptive.
His charge of assault on a female by aggressive physical force is a misdemeanor.
After William Paul’s arrest on January 5th, Senator Rand Paul’s office released a statement asking for privacy per WCNC.
“Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena,” the statement read.
“However, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this.”
U.S. Airways claims that they didn’t serve any alcohol to the 19-year-old during the flight. However, the police are saying it’s quite possible that they did serve the minor.
