Ron Paul, Ronald Reagan and the new attack ad on Rick Perry

The Ron Paul campaign seems to really be going for the gusto this time around.  While in the past, Ron Paul had not accentuated his personal relationship with Ronald Reagan, this cycle he seems to be going all-in for the White House.

There are a lot of similarities of Ronald Reagan's rise to the White House and Ron Paul's presidential bids.  In 1976, which has similarities to Ron Paul's 2008 run, the Republican establishment villified Reagan as too anti-establishment, too far out of the mainstream, too old to be President and that he could never win.  Most of the candidates that now profess to have admired and adored Reagan were actually opposed to him in 1976. Then in 1980 as the groundswell of grassroots support had continued to explode, there was nothing the establishment could do to stop it.  Although, that was before corporate monopoly control over mainstream media and before the age of computerized counting of our votes.

This latest Paul Campaign ad brings out the fact that it was Ron Paul that stood behind Reagan when the others did not.  As I reported in a previous article, Ron Paul is the only present candidate that was officially endorsed by Reagan in a past run for politcal office.  Then this ad goes on to deliver a direct attack on Rick Perry by contrasting who he was supporting in the past, namely Al Gore.

This campaign ad has the potential to stir-up voters, turn the establishment on its' head and shake-up the Perry campaign to its' core. (see video or link here)

The blog, the Daily Paul is a great source of information on the latest ad releases and other happenings of the Ron Paul campaign.
