Ron Paul attracts more than 1,150 supporters in Denver

Denver, Colorado – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul attracted more than 1,150 supporters to the Denver Renaissance Hotel Grand Ballroom in Denver today, demonstrating his overall popularity.

The crowd gathered expressly for the 12-term Congressman from Texas at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  This was his second event of the day and yet clearly there was no loss of enthusiasm.

The first of the 2012 candidates to hit the Centennial state, Paul spoke to a standing room only ballroom and talked to the very enthusiastic about the Liberty movement and getting back to fundamentals of the Constitution.

"All we have to do is return to our Constitutional government, and believe me we can get out of this mess in a very short period of time," said Paul.

Representative Paul has been criticized about his foreign policy ideas by the pro-establishment media, but sent a clear message that resonated with supporters in the crowd.

"One of the main reasons that you are interested in our campaign is because we believe in a new foreign policy, one designed to protect this country but not to be the policeman of the world," he said.

Paul called for a pursuit of personal liberty that he said the "current system undermines," talked about plans to slash $1 trillion from the federal budget in his first year, if elected into the Oval Office, and spoke out against abortion, calling on his roots as a "pro-choice" medical doctor.

He also mentioned that the American government needs to get back in touch with its hundreds-year-old roots in order to fix a system broken across multiple platforms.

Paul spoke to supporters at the Lory Student Center at Colorado State University at 10:00 a.m., the Renaissance Denver Hotel at noon, and later visited the Colorado Jet Center in Colorado Springs at 2:00 p.m.

Colorado does not have a primary, but will hold a caucus on February 7th.
