On Tuesday, Andrew Kaczynski posted several videos at Buzzfeed showing Ron Paul making a number of unusual statements.
Among them is one of the Texas Congressman calling the conservative agenda advanced by President Ronald Reagan a "disaster."
"I think we can further thank Ronald Reagan of course, for doing a good job. He certainly did a good job pointing out in 1980 the fallacies of the Democratic liberal agenda. He certainly did a good on following up, showing the disaster of the conservative agenda as well," Paul said.
The video, dated 8-15-1988, appears to be from his acceptance speech of the Libertarian Party nomination for president in 1988.
What makes this video explosive are the never-ending claims made by his more militant cult-like followers, who insist he is the most consistent and most conservative human being on the planet.
A post at Paul's campaign website, for example, attempts to make the case that Paul is the most conservative candidate running on the GOP ticket.
But it seems that Paul has had a change of heart over the years.
A post at The Right Sphere notes:
However, Paul seems to have changed his tune now that he is actually running as a Republican (the party that can, you know, win) and it can benefit him. Ron Paul’s own campaign website calls the Congressman the “most conservative candidate.” Not only that, but Paul is also making a hard effort in Iowa to win… conservatives.
To Paul’s credit, he did praise Reagan for the great job he did of pointing out the failures of progressivism. However, he also didn’t give Reagan any credit for what happened in the ensuing 8 years – but is now begging former Reagan supporters and conservatives to support him. All after calling the conservative agenda a failure years ago.
