Ron  Franklin along with Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore were discussing Marie Gillmore’s recent election win as Mayor of Alameda, CA.

Jeannine Edwards attempted to join the boys in the conversation.

Ron replied “Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes?”

The conversation spiraled downhill from there with Ron calling Jeannine an unsavory bodily orifice.

John Cave Osborne of strollerderby reports: Franklin, Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore were discussing Gimore’s wife, Marie, who was recently elected Mayor of Alameda, CA. Edwards tried to join the conversation late at which point Franklin said: “Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes?”

Sports by Brooks tells us: With Edwards and Franklin scheduled to work together the next night in Arizona, top ESPN programming executives - including Norby Williamson and Mark Gross - were involved in the decision to pull Franklin off the Fiesta Bowl radio broadcast.

The Huffington Post sums it up with their headline: Ron Franklin Of ESPN Calls Jeannine Edwards 'Sweetcakes', 'A-hole' Before Fiesta Bowl

ESPN considered pulling Ron Franklin from the Chick-fil-A Bowl broadcast, but no replacement could be found with such a short notice, and the radio broadcast was completed without any incidents or sarcastic words exchanged.

ESPN executives did find a replacement, Dave Lamont, for the Fiesta Bowl to work with Jeannine Edwards.

Josh Krulewitz, an ESPN spokesman said We’re not going to get into specifics other than to say adhering to our personal conduct policies and showing respect for colleagues are of the utmost importance to our company and we take them extremely seriously.”

At 68 years old, Ron Franklin may not be able to get any job considering the high unemployment rate.
