'Rome, Sweet Rome' gets a new writer

A new writer has been hired for the movie “Rome, Sweet Rome.”

Variety is reporting today that Brian Miller (“Apollo 18”) has been hired to tell the story of a U.S. armed forces unit that is transported back in time to battle Roman legions.

I really like this concept (it is something I always thought about as a child with my overactive imagination); the idea of seeing modern day warriors taking on the best of previous time periods.

With the right cast and a decent director this could turn into a fun “300”style action piece, and it could start off a whole new popular genre in Hollywood.

The original writer was found on the website Reddit posting various ideas of his, and was brought to the attention of Warner Bros. by Madhouse Entertainment.

He was then hired to write an initial draft, and now we have another example of how the internet is changing Hollywood for the better.
