A superb view of St. Peter’s Basilica is among the Hotel Atlante Star’s best amenities. The hotel’s rooftop garden and restaurant, Les Etoiles, features a 360 degree view of Rome. Most guests first experience the view when taking advantage of the property’s complimentary buffet breakfast on the sixth floor.

The Atlante Star offers 70 renovated guest rooms and 13 suites. Rates range from 140 to 290 Euros per night. Recent improvements include replacement of original wood shutters with modern equivalents, which hasn’t stunted the charm of the property, built in 1920.

The hotel was once a residential building, said Roberta Menucci, daughter of owner Benito Menucci. Benito began buying apartments in the building in the mid 1960s. Twenty years later, he secured the entire building, turning it into the Atlante Star.

Central location

The hotel is optimally situated just outside the walls of Vatican City, Other top sites - Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps - are also within a 15 to 20 minute walk across the Tiber River.

The Ottaviano subway stop is a 15 minute walk away, and the quieter Trastevere neighborhood is a 20 minute walk down the Tiber. An often overlooked site in Trastevere: the Villa Farnesina, and early 1500s suburban villa.

The Atlante Star offers complimentary airport pick-up from the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport
