Rome police investigating afternoon shooting

The Rome Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred today at 213 Reservation Street in North Rome this afternoon.

According to a spokesperson for the Rome Police Department, the victim, a black male, was shot multiple times and transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. He was conscious and alert when police and rescue units first arrived on the scene.

The suspect came out of the woods and fired multiple times at the victim.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
