A Rome man who is charged with sex crimes against a minor child has been released after making bond.
William Edward Johnson, age 48, of Rome, GA.; was arrested by Polk County Sheriff's deputies at his residence on Thursday, September 22, 2011 by Polk County deputies.
Johnson was arrested on warrants charging him with two counts of felony aggravated child molestation and two counts of felony aggravated sodomy.
Cedartown police initiated the warrant procedure on September, 20, 2011 after the mother of a young male victim filed a report alleging two incidents of sexual abuse by Johnson. The alleged sexual abuse occurred when the boy was 12 years old and was reported when he was 13 years old.
A person commits the offense of aggravated child molestation when such person commits an offense of child molestation which act physically injures the child or involves an act of sodomy.
A person commits the offense of aggravated sodomy when he or she commits sodomy with force and against the will of the other person or when he or she commits sodomy with a person who is less than ten years of age.
In January of this year, a Polk County superior court judge set a blanket bond on all charges in the amount of $19,100. Johnson made bond and was released earlier this afternoon after serving over four months in the county jail.
