Romcom 'Shanghai Calling' screens in San Francisco on Feb. 8 (Photos)

Writer/Director Daniel Hsia will make an appearance at the Presidio Theater in San Francisco this Friday, Feb. 8, following a screening of his romantic comedy "Shanghai Calling."

Ticketholders to this Friday's show will have the unique opportunity to meet Hsia, ask questions about the movie, and hear behind-the-scenes stories about the experience of filming in China.

"Shanghai Calling" opens in San Francisco on Feb. 8 and expands to Los Angeles and New York on Feb. 15.

The film will also be available On Demand and for digital download on Feb. 12.

"Shanghai Calling" tells the story of an ambitious New York attorney, Sam (played by Daniel Henney), who is transferred to Shanghai on assignment, partially because he's Chinese-American.

As a fish-out-of-water, he stumbles into a legal mess that could spell the end of his career. With help from a beautiful relocation specialist (Eliza Coupe), a well-connected foreign businessman, a clever but unassuming journalist, and a street-smart assistant, Sam might just save his job, discover romance, and learn to appreciate the many wonders Shanghai has to offer.

The film also stars Bill Paxton ("Twister"), Alan Ruck ("Speed"), Zhu Zhu ("The Man with the Iron Fists") and Geng Le ("Bejing Rocks"). It was produced by Janet Yang ("Joy Luck Club" and "High Crimes").
