Once you get over the buzz of the Super Bowl, you will soon realize that Valentine's Day is just around the corner and you have no idea where to take your sweetie out for a romantic dinner.
Have no fear, there are many opportunites for romantic dining in Reno.
Romanza is a romantic Italian restaurant localed in the Peppermill Hotel Casino (2707 S. Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89502, 775-689-7178). It has won many awards for its cuisine. The decor is a romantic spectacle of scultures, columns, torches, and a changing overhead sky scene.
Harrah's Steak house (219 N Center Street, Reno, NV 89501, 775-788-2929) is Reno's only AAA four-diamond rated restaurant. I have eaten there many times over the years and am always impressed. It is truely elegant and seemingly from another, more gentile age. The French-inspired decor, great food and excellect service will make you happy you went there.
La Vecchia 3005 Skyline Blvd, Reno, NV 89509, 775-825-1113) is an Italian restaurant with a casual, comfortable atmosphere. They recently moved from the corner of Moana and S. Virginia to their new Skyline location. The food is excellent, they have a very nice wine list and for those of you with food allergies, you can order wheat-free, gluten-free pasta.
Rapscallion Seafood House and Bar
Rapscallion (1555 S Wells Ave, Reno, NV 89502, 775-323-1211) is in an unlikely part of town, but you won't be disappointed. Seafood is their specialty and their separate booths allow couples to enjoy each other with some modicom of privacy.
Roxy's (345 N. Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89501, 775-786-5700) offers fine downtown dining at the El Dorado Hotel Casino. The restaurant is classy and quiet. Roxy's offers steaks, seafood, fine baked goods and various appetizers. Their martini bar is famous for it's 102 variations from which to choose. They also have an extensive wine list.
According to the El Dorado Hotel Casino website, La Strada (345 N. Virgnia Street, Reno, NV 89501, 775-348-9297) is rated one of the 10 best Italian restaurants in the country. As the primary sponsor of Reno's annual Great Italian Festival, the El Dorado is really into Italian food, so this claim is likely true. The docor is tasteful, if not intimate, and the service is excellent.
Beaujolais Bistro (130 West Street, Reno, NV 89501, 775-323-2227) is Reno's only French restaurant. This cozy little bistro is located in the downtown Riverwalk District, next to the West Street Market. It is small, so reservations are recommended. I have eaten here many times. The food is fantastic and the service excellent. They also have a big selection of French wines to choose from.
Luciano's (6135 Lakeside Drive, Reno, NV 89511, 775-828-0400) is a little out of the way, down in the south part of Reno, but always gets good reviews for the food, service and atmosphere. The fact that it is out of the way, likely adds to Luciano's charm and ambiance.
You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a romantic dinner and there are certainly a lot more places to choose for dinner than those listed here. But this list certainly has some of the more interesting local dining available in Reno.
Bon Appetit, Reno! And Happy Valentine's Day!
