February 14, 2013 is Valentine’s Day. This year, the most romantic day of the year takes place on a Thursday. As a lesbian couple, what are you planning to do to celebrate your love together? Will you be exchanging Valentine’s Day greeting cards, sharing a box of delicious chocolates, or indulging in a bunch of beautiful roses?
There are many things you can do, including a few cheap date ideas that will leave you feeling happy as you share time together. Here are a few ideas:
If you want to spend the night out dancing, check out the local club and lesbian-friendly bar scenes. Many places will feature live bands, DJs playing the hottest music, or a jukebox where you can pick out your favorite songs. Whichever the venue, you will be able to celebrate your relationship with music and dance.
Are you nature lovers? Check out a local national park or plan a picnic in your nearest botanical gardens. Many gardens host jazz concerts on the evening of Valentine’s Day which will be a nice way to get cozy as you take in some groovy tunes.
Snuggle up for a lesbian movie marathon. Visit your local video store or see what your cable listings have to offer. Some movies you might want to look up include:
- If These Walls Could Talk
- Better than Chocolate
- High Art
- Kissing Jessica Stein
Another cheap date idea is planning a romantic picnic. Visit your grocery store and pick up your favorite bottle of wine, maybe some sushi, and of course chocolate covered strawberries and you are good to go!
If you are one of those crafty lesbian couples, stay in and make something together. Painting or creating something out of clay is a very romantic way to get close and truly appreciate each other.
You could also cook a nice meal as a way to unwind for the evening. Maybe you can create a video to commemorate the evening together! Be creative - this keeps things exciting and fresh!
What will you plan for you and your girlfriend this Valentine's Day?
