Looking for a romantic restaurant for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, or just a night out on the town? Rocco’s Italian Grille is a family-run trattoria in Winter Park. A consistent award winner for 2013 Open Table Diner's Choice Award and the 2013 Silver Spoon Award for "Best Italian," Rocco’s offers a diverse Italian menu meant to please all palates.
If it’s atmosphere you seek, Rocco’s delivers with intimate tables draped in white linen, a wood-paneled bar, attentive servers and soft lighting. But the overall feeling is not pretentious. Instead it is like dining at a family restaurant in the heart of Italy. On warm nights al fresco dining is offered on the outdoor terrace.
Relax and dine by live music on Friday and Saturday nights while an Italian crooner plays guitar and sings Italian, and some American, favorites. It takes fine dining to another level.
On my visit to Rocco’s, I had the daily special appetizer, andouille sausage and beef ravioli in a white truffle and cream sauce. The sauce was the star. While the ravioli was delicious, the sauce was among the best I have ever tasted. I could have ordered another and made a meal of the appetizer, it was so good.
For my entrée, I ordered the Scaloppini Di Vitello Al Carciofi (veal sautéed with artichoke hearts in a white wine sauce). It was just as good as it sounds. The veal was tender and cooked to perfection, and the wine sauce and artichokes added that extra zing.
My dessert was Tiramisu, while my fellow diner had the La Bomba (Chocolate and vanilla gelato with a cherry and almond center coated in chocolate). After seeing the impressive chocolate La Bomba, I wished I had ordered it, too. But my Tiramisu was delicious and did not disappoint.
So, bottom line, if you’re looking for a romantic night out, or just an entertaining place to enjoy great food with friends, Rocco’s in Winter Park fits the bill.
