Anyone from the East Coast knows you can find good Italian dishes anywhere you go.  But finding true, authentic Italian dishes where grandma's recipe is still the main ingredient can be something of a rarity.  With large chains muddying the waters of Italian gourmet, its no wonder that there are some people who really believe the Olive Garden is authentic Italian food.

Walk into Romanelli's Italian Deli on Dunlap Avenue just east of 35th Avenue, breathe in the scent of fresh garlic, rosemary, oregano, and hot from the oven bread and you know instantly you are not at the Olive Garden.  You have just entered your very own personal trip to Tuscany, Sicily, and Rome.

Pass the novelty items, chuckling as you go.  Signs that shout their love and pride for the Italian heritage point the way to the display case packed with several varieties of fresh, baked on the premises bread.  This isn't your frozen dough bread.  This is beat in the mixer, hand shaped, baked to perfection just for you bread.  And you not only see the love baked into each piece, but you can taste it.

Next, you find yourself standing at the hot/cold deli case.  Boar's head meats and cheeses are displayed, with the smells of each one mixing in the air creating a heady perfume that causes your tastebuds to water, your nose to tingle.  There is a hot deli case where sausage and peppers scream eat me.  The sausages are so juicy and browned to perfection, you haven't taken a bite but the taste and the first squirt of juice sit on your tongue so strong is the memory.  You must have one!

Prefer to be the starring chef in your kitchen?  Romanelli's offers everything you could possibly need to create an authentic Italian feast,  many items imported directly from Italy for your gourmet delight.

For the quick lunch on the go, grab a hoagie made fresh for you by Joanne or Jean.  You can get a 10" sub ranging in cost from $4.99 for your basic ham and cheese up to $8.95 for a sopressata & cheese.  If you prefer pasta dishes, salads, we make'em you bake'em pizzas, and scrumptious desserts like home made cannolis, gelato, and New York Cheesecake, Romanelli's Deli has a menu that beats out the big guys not only with variety, but with quality and value also.

Romanelli's also offers catering trays.  Call Robert or Sam @ 602-249-9030 for more information or check out their website @ www.romanellisitaliandeli.com

Romanelli's is open Monday through Saturday 9-6 and can be found at 3437 W. Dunlap, Phoenix, Az 85051.
