Roma still alive for Serie A title by defeating AC Milan

AS Roma defeated AC Milan on Friday afternoon for round 35 of the Italian soccer league, Serie A, and is still alive for the title. The Roman team is currently in second place behind Juventus who still has to play their round 35 game this weekend.

As reported by ESPN Deportes on Friday, club team from Rome defeated Milan with a score of 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. The goals were made by Miralem Pjanic and Gervinho.

As reported, the game was fairly even. Both teams almost accumulated the same amount of shots. The Roman team had 14 while Milan had 13. On the other hand, the home team, Roma, controlled the ball more often than Milan, 63% to Milan’s 37%.

The first goal for the Roman team, 43rd minute, was spectacular, as Bosnian midfielder Pjanic weaved through Milan’s defense from outside the box. Pjanic burned three defender from AC Milan and made his way into the middle of the box. His shot also got past goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.

The second goal came in the 65th minute of match for the Roman team. Forward Francesco Totti took a hard shot from the right side of the box in which Abbiati made a save, but it was too hard to handle. Ivorian striker Gervinho was there to pick up the pieces and netted the ball.

Both teams had come into this match with an outstanding record. It was reported that the Roman team and AC Milan did not lose their last five games before this match.

The next game for AS Roma is going to be against Catania on May 4. The only thing that is needed for the Roman team to win the Serie A title is for Juventus to lose three games out of the last four left in the season.
