Rolyo, Twitter and Glenn Beck - Remembering Independence

Roly Orhuela
Rolyo - Roly Orhuela -  Stands out from the crowd.

Roly O.  You haven't heard of him?  I bet you have heard his music and just don't know it.
Roly has done the music for the Ford 2006 Super bowl and the 2007 'Hot or Not' commercials. He also has does the Miami Heat 2009 player intro background music as well as other 'behind the scenes sounds'.  But the thing that is driving him, if not totally shooting him into the spotlight is the simple song he wrote only a few weeks ago (at the time of this writing)

Frustrated at the way things are going in this country, he did what came natural to him, he wrote a song.  On a whim, just to say 'I think you will like it' he tweeted it to Fox news TV and radio personality, Glenn Beck.  Like it?? Glenn loved it and could not wait to share the raw, demo version to his audience.  I only caught the short clip Glenn played that night, (before the full version later that week), but I knew, this guy got it. Raw talent.  Something you don't hear too often now a days.

Meet Roly.  Self taught in everything from his music, to his art, to his on line work, this young man got it going on. His music is simple, and has a meaning that is deeper than what is right there on the surface,  The lyrics reach down into you and grab you saying ...'Hey, wake up! I am talking to you! Can't you feel it too?'

Working in his studio, it is all Roly.  Just him, his guitar, and his music.  He is a true solo indie, doing all of it by himself.  "I have played with a band before, and would love to again, it is just difficult, finding others that have the same vision, the same passion.  I am in this for the music....the art....sure money is nice, but that is not the driving force."

When asked where did 'Remember Independence' come from? Is this new to you? Did it come from what is going on today? He said:" No, ...and Yes.  Well I have always felt things where getting out of control....things wheren't 'right'. With my wife going to Med School and the Health care issues going on,  I finally said, 'enough!' and the music and the lyrics just flowed out."  "I wrote it, did the video, and decided on a whim, what the heck, I will send a link to Glenn Beck via twitter, he'll like seeing it.  Never did I expect him to get in touch with me!"

But Glenn did.  A couple of days later, Roly was performing this for Glenn and the rest of America.

Roly since then wanted to thank Glenn.  He got on twitter and was 'tweeting' with other Glenn Beck fans and told them he wanted to thank him for featuring his sing.  They told him, 'do what you do best....write a song'  So with the help of Glenn Beck supporters, he wrote 'It makes blood shoot out of my eyes' as a thank you to Glenn.  This song has to be this writers favorite.  I asked 'How did the twitter peeps help you out?'  "They wrote the lyrics." he said. "I asked them for suggestions, and they tweeted.  With what they sent me, came all the lyrics for that song"

Roly is also a wonderful artist as well, his paintings, drawings, and graphic art is every bit as in depth as his music.  When asked "of all your songs, which one is 'you?'" He said quickly, 'Rocket Song', that one is so me.  Not a crowd favorite, but the sarcasm it has, well that is me."

While talking about his work, he explains it this way:"My art. My songs, well they are like children.  Each one is different, unique.  And what I see in a song or a picture, may not be what you see.  That is the beauty of it."

Roly is very active on line, doing live sets for his fans almost every night via UStream. " I love Ustream. I keep two chat windows open, chat and touch base with people that like what I do.  It is a great way to reach out. I love Twitter too...and boy has my followers numbers gone up since Glenn Beck!"

What is in the future for Roly?  Well his wife's schooling is moving them to the Caribbean for a time, but Roly will be traveling back and forth often to the states.  "I plan on using the time there to read as much as I can, and to work on my music and art.  I love creating, I love learning, and this will allow me time for both.  I will come back to the states often, and I want to travel some more.  I recently got to visit Some of this countries great cities including New York and Philly...that was awesome!  Wonderful cities with such history and culture!"

Roly is working on a CD and hopes to complete it soon.  "I can be picky at times...and doing it all on my own can be rough, but I know it will be worth it"

Yes Roly, from what we have seen and heard, it will be great.
