The Rolling Stones have released a statement voicing support for their bandmate Mick Jagger, following the sudden and tragic death of the singer's longtime girlfriend L'Wren Scott, which resulted in yesterday's postponement of the band's tour dates in Australia and New Zealand.

According to a news release posted on March 18 at RollingStones.com, the legendary British rockers each rallied behind their grief stricken frontman in individual messages, expressing their support, while extending their regrets to fans for the unexpected postponement of several 14 On Fire Tour dates.

Guitarist Keith Richards writes, "No-one saw this coming. Mick's always been my soul brother and we love him… we're thick as thieves and we're all feeling for the man."

Richards expresses The Stones' regret at disappointing fans in Australia and New Zealand, but assures them, "We’ll see everyone really soon."

Drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood echo Richard's sentiments.

Watts writes, "Needless to say we are all completely shocked but our first thought is to support Mick at this awful time. We intend to come back to Australia and New Zealand as soon as it proves possible."

Wood adds, "This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time. Without a doubt we intend to be back out on that stage as soon as we can."

Jagger has rushed back from Australia to New York and posted a personal statement yesterday on his Facebook page, writing, "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.“I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to he and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her.”

The 46-year-old fashion designer and celebrity stylist was found by her assistant hanging from a doorknob in her Manhattan apartment at 10 a.m. of March 17 of an apparent suicide.

An investigation is underway.
