The Rolling Stones performed to a sold out audience on June 22 in Rome, Italy at Circus Maximus. The legendary British rockers dazzled 71,000 fans at the historic 2,000-year-old venue.
According to an update posted June 22 at their official website at RollingStones.com, the World's Greatest Rock N' Roll Band treated fans who packed the ancient Roman chariot racing stadium to a 19 song setlist, which included a guest appearance from John Mayer. The Grammy Award singer-songwriter sat in with The Stones during their performance of the band's online fan favorite selection, their 1978 Some Girls U.K. single "Respectable." Mayer previously performed as a guest artist with the band during their hugely successful AEG Live produced 50 and Counting U.S. Tour.
Other highlights from the "Satisfaction" hitmaker's 10th stop on their European tour leg included a rare performance of their 2005 single "Streets of Love" for the first time on the tour. The ballad, which was released as a double-sided A in 2005 with "Rough Justice," was one of the songs they performed in Paris during rehearsal in preparation for their European tour. It was played only occasionally during their 2005-2007 A Bigger Bang Tour. Ex-Stone Mick Taylor sat in on song's live performance in Rome.
Taylor also performed as guest artist on "Midnight Rambler," as well as on the encore "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." The Stones brought in Coro Giovanile Italiano as special guest backing vocalists on "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
Last week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers played to packed house of 45,000 fans in Düsseldorf, Germany at Espirt Arena and also rocked a sold out crowd of 60,000 fans in Vienna, Austria at Ernst Happel Stadion. Fans can check out a video clip of The Stones performing "Streets of Love" live. See below for the full setlist from Rome.
