The Rolling Stones performed to a sold out crowd on June 25 in Madrid, Spain. The legendary rockers treated 60,000 fans at Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to a rare performance of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone."
According to an update posted June 22 at RollingStones.com, the World's Greatest Rock N' Roll Band performed the rarity for the first time on their 14 On Fire Tour after it won the online song vote in a landslide victory, receiving over 80,000 votes. The Dylan classic was the first single from The Stones' 1995 Stripped album, released during their Voodoo Lounge Tour.
Other highlights of their 19-song setlist included a reappearance of their 1973 Goat's Head Soup hit single "Angie" for the first time since Pinkpop Festival at the beginning of June. Mick Taylor performed as guest artist on "Midnight Rambler," as well as on the encore "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and Choir Jorcam performed as special guest backing vocalists on "You Can't Always Get What You Want." See below for the full setlist.
The "Jumpin' Jack Flash" hitmakers performed to a sold out audience earlier this week in Rome, Italy at Circus Maximus. The legendary British rockers dazzled 71,000 spectators at the historic 2,000-year-old venue, which included a guest appearance from John Mayer their 1978 Some Girls rocker "Respectable."
The Stones will now head to Werchter, Belgium for a headline festival appearance at TW Classic on Sat., June 28. Stones guitarist Keith Richards will make a radio appearance on Planet Rock on Sun., June 29 to talk about his favourite blues tracks and love affair with the blues. Did you know? The Rolling Stones were named after the Muddy Waters blues classic "Rollin' Stone" by Stones founding member, the late Brian Jones - not after Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone."
