The Rolling Stones headline appearance at the world renowned Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, England on June 29, 2013 topped a U.K. poll to determine the biggest music moment of 2013.
According to an article posted Dec. 21 at Music-News.com, the legendary British rockers' recording-breaking appearance on the festival's Pyramid Stage to a sold out crowd of more than an 200,000 festival onlookers and 2.5 million more viewing the spectacle on TV, easily won the poll, which was conducted by One Poll for U.K. music streaming service Blinkbox Music.
One in four of the adult participants surveyed put the "Satisfaction" hitmakers at No. 1, easily outlegging competing 2013 highlight events that featured big name artists such as Miley Cyrus, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Adele, Beyoncé, Eminem and David Bowie.
The top ten included: 1. Rolling Stones headline Glastonbury, 2. Death of Lou Reed, 3. David Bowie comeback album , 4. McFly and Busted form McBusted, 5. Adele wins Oscar for 'Skyfall ' 6. Prince William sings with Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift, 7. Miley Cyrus twerks at the MTV VMAs, 8. Eminem's comeback album , 9. JLS announce they are breaking up and 10. The Big Reunion tour.
With the announcement of a new round of 2014 Asia Pacific tour leg - dubbed "14 on Fire" - along with recent news of The Stones scoring three nominations at the 56th annual Grammy Awards, 2014 is sure to be another big year for The Rolling Stones.
