The Rolling Stones took a share of the spoils at the 6th Marshall Classic Rock of Honour Awards.
The star studded Classic Rock Magazine annual awards were held yesterday (11/11/10) at London’s Roundhouse.
The event was hosted by veteran shock rock Alice Cooper.
Accepting for The Stones, guitarist Ronnie Wood turned up to receive best album reissue for "Exile On Main Street,” which hit the top of the charts upon its re-release this year in the U.K.
This was Wood’s 2nd trip in the last 2 years to the Classic Rock podium. Last year, the veteran rocker picked up an outstanding contribution award for his work with The Stones, The Faces and The Jeff Beck Group.
Other big winners included AC/DC for band of the year, Slash for album of the year, and Journey for event of the year.
Canada’s own RUSH were also honoured at the event as “Living Legends.”
Other award winners included John Paul Jones, Geezer Butler, Rick Wakeman, Cheap Trick and numerous others.
You can check out Classic Rock Magazine’s online site for a full list of winners.
Did you know? Although The Rolling Stones 1972 classic album ”Exile on Main St” was initially greeted with mixed reviews, it has since become regarded as a masterpiece and, in 2003, the album was ranked No 7 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
