Bacardi celebrated their 150th anniversary at The Crane Bay the night before Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. The Crane Bay is a newly renovated, by former Colts player Gary Padjen; industrial warehouse located just 2 blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium. This venue is outstanding; the renovations that were made in this warehouse have made it into one of the most elite spots to hold an event. The entrance to the main room was set up as entrance to a plane set up complete with a pilot and air hostess taking boarding passes as people entered.
This event featured some of the biggest celebrities and hottest musical acts around. The performers for this show included DJ Taryn Manning, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, Lupe Fiasco, and party rockers LMFAO. Some of the celebrities to make appearances at the bash included; Anna Ferris, Will Forte, Chris Meloni, Aaron Rodgers, Erin Andrews, Joe Manganiello, Joshua Bowman, Nikki Reed, and many more.
I was lucky enough to attend the red carpet for this event and talk with some of the guests as they entered. First off I would like to say that this party definitely brought out some of the best outfits in the Indianapolis area. One person that I would say took the show by storm with their outfit is the one and only Neon Hitch. Her outfit consisted of high waist gold pants, a black bra like top with gold studs, and a fantastic feathery headdress. Amidst the masses of people that attended the event a couple of guests that flew under most peoples radar but stood out to me were individuals like Chris Norwinski, who is known to many people as a former WWE wrestler but much more importantly he is a board member with Sports Legacy Institute where he helps to research long term trauma and head injuries associated with concussions. Another person that seemingly snuck in was Paul McDonald, with most of the attention on his wife Nikki Reed, who finished in 8th place on American Idol.
I unfortunately was not able to attend the concert portion of the show, but in talking with musical acts Gym Class Heroes and Cobra Starship I did get a little bit of an inside look at the performances. Gym Class Heroes walked the red carpet prior to their performance and front man Travie McCoy was extremely excited to be performing. Having to recently cancel several shows due to medical issues McCoy assured us that though he is not feeling 100% yet he would be giving everyone everything he has in their performance. Cobra Starship walked the carpet after their set and Ryland Blackinton and Gabe Sporta said that the performance went really well and that the crowd seemed to have a lot of good energy. Gabe also told a story about a couple in the crowd that apparently had gotten into quite an intense verbal argument but even as the couple argued they were still extremely into the music and danced through the entire thing.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to cover this awesome event, and if I learned anything while doing the coverage for this event I would say that it is simply that Bacardi, Rolling Stone, and The Crane Bay can put on one hell of a party. This event proved without a shadow of a doubt that not only is The Crane Bay in an ideal location but the staff and venue will impress everyone that comes through. As for Rolling Stone and Bacardi, well if there was ever a doubt that they could put together a list of musicians that will bring their A game and entertain the guests, no matter if they are A list celebrities or your average person lucky enough to attend the show, you can put it to rest. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I think that as far as Bacardi's birthday is concerned it was a great success.
