Roller derby 'Floods' Placer County

Haven't you heard? Placer County has a new kid in town, and that kid likes to skate. This Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Placer County Fairgrounds (800 All America City Blvd, Roseville), Flood Water Roller Derby, aka The Flood, is making it official.

Starting at 7:00 p.m., as a member of the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce, and in conjunction with The Fairgrounds and the All American Speedway, The Flood is hosting its ribbon cutting ceremony at its indoor practice space. Curious about roller derby? Come watch the ceremony and meet the skaters. Really curious about roller derby? Bring your skates if you got em because The Flood's first ever tryouts begin immediately after the ceremony.

Don't have skating experience or any gear? That's no problem, loaner gear will be available. Don't think you belong on wheels? Doesn't matter. There are a lot of ways to participate in roller derby that don't require skating. In fact, non-skater volunteers are an essential part of any derby league. If you just want to watch you are also in luck. This one and only time, in celebration of the ribbon cutting, The Flood is opening tryouts to onlookers. It's a Monday night; what else could you possible have going on?

The ribbon cutting is promptly at 7:00 p.m. followed immediately by tryouts from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Both events will be held in Jones Hall. Keep a lookout for the "flooded" signs to guide you.
