Rolex 24: Pruett wins fifth, Team Sahlen ninth in class (Photos)

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates earned its fifth win in 10 attempts in the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Sunday, giving Scott Pruett his record-tying fifth win in the classic endurance race. With the win, Pruett tied Hurley Haywood for the most wins in the Rolex 24.

Joining Pruett as co-drivers on the No. 01 TELMEX/Target BMW/Riley team were Memo Rojas, his co-driver for the last three GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series championships, Juan Pablo Montoya, Charlie Kimball and Scott Dixon.

Finishing second overall and in the Daytona Prototype class was the No. 10 Corvette of Velocity Worldwide with Max Angelelli, Jordan Taylor and Ryan Hunter-Reay sharing driving duties. The No. 60 BMW/Riley of Michael Shank Racing, with co-drivers AJ Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose, Ozz Negri, Justin Wilson and John Pew, took third.

Buffalo’s Team Sahlen finished 21st overall and ninth in the DP class with Dane Cameron, Wayne Nonnamaker and Simon Pagenaud behind the wheel of the No. 42 BMW/Riley. The second Team Sahlen entry, the No. 43 BMW/Riley with Wayne and Joe Nonnamaker and Buffalo’s Joe Sahlen behind the wheel, finished 44th overall.

The Audi Sport Customer Racing/Alex Job Racing No. 24 Audi R8 won the GT class with Filipe Albuquerque, Oliver Jarvis, Edoardo Mortara and Dion von Moltke handling driving duties, while the Napleton Racing No. 16 Porsche Cayman won the new GX class with Shane Lewis, Jim Norman, David Donohue and Nelson Canache behind the wheel.
