Ever since there were rumors a few months ago that the director of the new "Batman vs. Superman" movie was looking for someone to play Wonder Woman fans have been online guessing every actress from Megan Fox to countless other female actors. But, on Thursday, Dec. 4, the wait was over and the director of the movie, Zak Snyder announced that Gal Gadot would be harnessing that awesome lasso for the movie.

Gal Gadot, is an Israeli model and actress who won Ms. Israel in 2004 and went on to her film career by starring in "Fast and the Furious 6".

To comic fans, heck Wonder Woman fans everywhere, this is one of the most popular characters in the DC Universe and of course the controversy and the negativity and doubts flew especially since this will be the first film that she has ever been a part of.

But this is what Zak Snyder had to say to his casting decision,

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," Snyder said. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

The other two contenders for the role was "G.I. Joe: Retaliation's" Elodie Yung from and "James Bond's Quantum of Solace's" Olga Kurylenko.

What do you think of the casting decisions thus far?

"Batman vs. Superman" is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
