Roland Martin to leave CNN: Tweets last day is in April

CNN President Jeff Zucker is clearly not finished with his reorganization of the network. Political contributor Roland Martin spoke out on Twitter Tuesday, March 19 to let his followers know his contract will not be renewed with CNN.

The news didn't surprise most viewers of the CNN network because of past controversial statements from Roland Martin. Last year CNN suspended Martin from their network after he sent off a blast of controversial tweets that were considered homophobic by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Although, Roland Martin didn't speculate on the exact reasons for the abrupt ending of his contract with CNN, he did claim that the new boss Jeff Zucker wanted new people. According to a tweet from Roland his official last day will be April 6.

Roland Martin emailed Politico and informed them that his agents were the ones to notify him that his two month contract extension is officially coming to an end.

Before I signed with CNN, I sat in the lobby of 1 Time Warner Center and said, "God, if it's your will to be here, then so be it.' I said the same these last two months.

Martin, still works as a syndicated columnist and analyst for TV One.

I've worked hard to ensure that my voice wasn't heard in one place. I will continue with my show on TV One, a network I was with before CNN; will continue my daily segment on the Tom Joyner Morning Show; and will continue my nationally syndicated column.

In my final days at CNN when I'm on the air, I will to do as the Tuskegee Airmen did, fight to the last hour, last minute, last second, for what is right. And I will do that as long as there is breath in my body.

Do you think that Jeff Zucker made the right decision by not renewing Roland Martin's contract?
