Ring of Honor's most recent television taping took place on Jan. 26 and the show named the next world title opponent for ROH Champion Kevin Steen. Here is what went down on the weekly Ring of Honor television show.
The show opened with matchmaker Nigel McGuinness standing in the ring with security. He called out Jay Lethal and Kevin Steen to the ring. Lethal came out and then Steen came out, followed by Steve Corino, Jimmy Jacobs and Rhino. Lethal asked for a title shot, which led to Corino talking smack to him about it.
Steen took the microphone away from Corino while he was talking so Lethal could continue. Lethal mentioned that Steen wanted to beat everyone in the back that fought with honor, but was too scared to fight him. He challenged Steen to the world title match. Steen turned around and walked off, but then he stopped and said "I accept," causing SCUM to go nuts in the ring.
This was a huge moment, paying off the last two months of Lethal's frustrations getting the better of him.
Next up was the second match in the Top Prospects Tournament as Silas Young and Adam Page fought. In a great match, Young bear Page by submission.
Charlie Haas came out next and cut a fantastic promo about how Ring of Honor wants to censor him. He then challenged a kid working at ringside to a match and beat the crap out of him. Haas came off as a major star in this promo.
Matt Hardy made his Ring of Honor television debut in the next match and beat former tag team champion Rhett Titus with the twist of fate.
Finally, the main event of the show was for the Ring of Honor World Television Championship, as Adam Cole defended his title against BJ Whitmer. The match was hard fought, and ended when Whitmer came down on his already injured head and Cole hit a flurry of offense for the win.
Matt Hardy did commentary during the match and he and Cole had a stare down as the show went off the air.
