When AJ Styles' contract with TNA Impact Wrestling expired, it was assumed that it was just a matter of time before he returned to the company that he helped build. However, Styles has broken off his contract talks with TNA and has returned to the independent scene. According to prowrestling.com on Dec. 31, he has now signed for multiple appearances in Ring of Honro Wrestling.
It was already known that AJ Styles was appearing at the Ring of Honor television taping on Jan. 4 to fight Roderick Strong. He already cut a promo about his return and his match with Strong, which you can watch in the video on this page.
However, while he will be wrestling all over the country, for companies like Smash Wrestling, CZW, and House of Glory, he will also be a mainstay for Ring of Honor Wrestling for the early part of 2014.
After this weekend's TV taping, Styles will next appear for Ring of Honor at their major February event, the 12th Anniversary Show on Feb. 21, and then will be at the next Ring of Honor television taping on Feb. 22.
AJ Styles was one of Ring of Honor's early stars when the company first began, but he was also wrestling at that time with TNA Impact Wrestling, as the two promotions started at the same time. When TNA demanded that all their workers only work exclusively for them, Styles almost jumped to Ring of Honor but chose to stay in TNA.
Now that his TNA Impact Wrestling career has ended, AJ Styles has finally returned to Ring of Honor.
