When Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe's Rinf of Honor contracts expired, rumors ran wild about whether or not they would jump to the WWE. However, Mark Briscoe showed up weeks later for the world title tournament and now PWS reported on Sept. 3 that Jay Briscoe will return at the ROH "Death Before Dishonor XI" show.
The two modes of thought when their contracts ended was that the Briscoe Brothers would either sign with the WWE or sit out for awhile and take a much deserved break. Jay Briscoe himself just had a new child, so he might have wanted to take a break for that.
Plus, Jay messed his shoulder up at the end of his run, which is how Ring of Honor chose to strip him of the title and start the world title tournament.
However, neither man signed with the WWE and there is not much chance they are what the WWE is looking for anyway. While they are working without contracts, Jay Briscoe cut a great R-rated promo at their farm about being angry at getting stripped of his title. In the ROH news brief, Nigel McGuinness said that Ring of Honor was trying to get the title back but Jay Briscoe refused to return their calls.
McGuinness said that Jay finally answered their call and said he would be at ROH "Death Before Dishonor XI" to present the belt to the new champion. Expect the handing over of the title to be a violent affair.
ROH "Death Before Dishonor X" takes place on Sept. 20 in Philadelphia.
