Each quarter, Rogue Produce, in southern Oregon, hosts "The Living Rogue Community Dinner," a fundraising event with local food, live music, fun activities for the kids, and a silent auction with great prizes donated by local businesses.
"The purpose of these dinners is to promote a lifestyle which supports local farmers, helps enhance local food security, and creates an ever greater experience of abundance and sense of community in our region."
The proceeds of each dinner is donated to Rogue Valley Farm to School, a local non-profit organization. Their mission is to educate children about our food system through hands-on farm and garden programs, and by increasing local foods in school meals.
Sponsors of this event include GMO Free Jackson County; Little Sprouts Farm; Vitalist School of Herbology; Ashland Springs Hotel; TerraVita Springs; Animal Kind Holistic Veterinary Clinic; and Rogue Biofuels.
Join in the fun Saturday, March 9th, 2013 from 4 P.M. to 10 P.m. at the Bellview Grange, 1044 Tolman Creek Rd., in Ashland, OR. The meal will be catered by Ruby's Restaurant of Ashland, with a delicious salad, two soup options, an entrée (with gluten free and vegetarian options), and dessert.
Live entertainment will be provided by Sweet Malloy, and other local artists. There will be a variety of local businesses, farmers, and non-profit organizations present, as well, sharing information about their services, and selling products.
Those interested in purchasing a booth space, or donating an item to the silent auction, may call Rogue Produce at 541-301-3426. Donors to the event can receive a booth space for free, as well as advertising on Rogue Produce's flyers and website.
Advance tickets are $20 for adults, $35 for couples, and $10 for kids ages 7 - 14. Kids under age 7 are free. Get your tickets early, and at a discount, so event coordinators can more accurately gauge how much food needs to be purchased.
