Roger Waters has admitted it was a mistake severing ties with his Pink Floyd bandmates after leaving the legendary group.
As posted in an article today (1/19/12) on RockNewsDesk.com, the former Floyd frontman, whose marriage to longtime fiancée, filmmaker/actress Laurie Durning on Saturday (1/14/12) was made public yesterday by Howard Stern on Twitter, told the radio host he regretted the acrimony that followed the band’s breakup.
Asked by Stern if ex-bandmates David Gilmour and company were wrong to continue playing his songs after he'd left, Waters says: "No, I don't think so. I think I was wrong to think they were wrong."
The pair spent years in bitter litigation after Waters decided to exit the band in 1985. Waters maintained the group had "dissolved" and fought unsuccessfully to stop the remaining members from continuing under the Floyd name.
The “Money” hitmaker, who’ll be bringing his hugely successful production of “The Wall” to Canada in 2012, recently added more Canadian 2012 dates thanks to sellout ticket sales, adding a 2nd show in Winnipeg on June 1 at the MTS Centre and in Edmonton on Tuesday, May 29 at Rexall Place.
Waters’ Canadian tour leg kicks off Sat 05/26/12 in Vancouver at BC Place, and wraps up Tue 06/26/12 in Montreal, QC at the Bell Centre.
