Roger Mayweather reacts to Floyd Mayweather's face off with Robert Guerrero

Earlier this week, BoxingScene.com correspondent Ryan Maquinana showed fans a behind-the-scenes video, courtesy of Showtime Pay-Per-View, of the intense faceoff between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero ahead of their May 4th clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the video, Mayweather can be seen taking the offensive, boldly taunting Guerrero, who did his best to brush off Floyd’s verbal assaults as he grinned.

A few hours after the nearly three-minute clip hit the net, I showed Floyd’s trainer and Uncle Roger the video off of my iPhone during some down time from training inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club.

“I’ve never seen this,” stated a seemingly amused Roger, as seen in a post on HustleBoss.com on Thursday, March 7.

As the face off continued, Roger held the phone closer to his ear and grinned as Floyd and Guerrero continued to trade barbs.

Roger seemed very amused by Floyd’s aggressive attitude in trying to show up Guerrero and understands fully what the gamesmanship means.

“He said what he said,” Roger said of Floyd. “Now he’s got to back it up.”

Pre-fight theatrics are nothing new in boxing or to the charismatic Mayweather, however, Roger seemed to agree that Floyd’s bravado offered up a look into just how motivated and geared up he is heading into the 44th bout of his career.

“Oh yeah, no question,” Roger stated. “It’s going to make him hyped up and that much sharper. And it’s going to make him that much smarter about what he’s got to do.”

Guerrero is a big underdog heading into the fight and while Roger doesn’t completely dismiss him, he is quick to point out that he’s in for a whole new experience come May.

“I’m not saying he’s biting off more than he can chew,” Roger said. “He’s going to find out what the real deal is. He’s never fought [nobody] like Floyd Mayweather.”
