Mindy McCready’s suicide has hit the country music world hard and people she touched are stepping out to say kind words. That includes Roger Clemens. The baseball athlete released a statement on Monday addressing the death of the singer and leaving fans an impression that he respected her memory.
“I had heard over time that she was trying to get peace and direction in her life," read the statement from Roger Clemens' statement. "The few times that I had met her and her manager/agent they were extremely nice."
While the two were at one time allegedly romantically involved, the relationship was denied by Roger Clemens and the issue was compounded by statements that the two were friends. While the alleged relationship was years ago, it’s pretty obvious that Clemens was hoping to respect McCready’s life and music without dragging up all the rumors that came along with the story.
In a world where after death so many people make up ridiculous statements about a star to grab a few minutes of fame, Roger Clemens really kept it classy. Which not only respects Mindy McCready but also all the fans who loved her.
