After a controversial ending to their first fight, Roger Bowling was unable to get his revenge against Abel Trujillo on Saturday night.

Trujillo was able to stop Bowling in the second with a barrage of strikes on the undercard at UFC on FOX 9 in Sacramento. The lightweight fight aired live on FOX Sports 1.

The Cincinnati native took on Trujillo back in August at UFC Fight Night 27 in Indianapolis. The fight was stopped in the second round after “Killa” hit Bowling with an illegal knee.

The fight was ruled a no contest and sparked a heated rivalry between the two.

Both fighters wasted no time taking the center of the cage looking to knock each other’s heads off at the Sleep Train Arena. From the start, Trujillo was quicker to the punch and opened a cut under Bowling’s right eye.

After winning the first round, Trujillo quickly pushed forward to start the second round and got Bowling down on the ground. “Relentless” went for a guillotine choke but Trujillo had no trouble getting out of the submission.

After getting his neck free, Trujillo postured up and hit Bowling with a vicious right hand that rocked Bowling. At that point, Trujillo smelled blood and started unloading on Bowling with knees and punches.

Ref “Big” John McCarthy had seen enough and stepped in and stopped the fight at 1:35 of the second round. Trujillo was awarded the TKO victory and is now 11-5 in his career.

With the loss, Bowling drops to 11-5 and has now lost three out of his last four fights.
