Roddy White injury news could be disconcerting for Atlanta Falcons fans and fantasy football owners. White is dealing with an ankle injury and on Wednesday afternoon (August 28), the front office was quoted as saying that they "hope" he will be available for the Week One game. According to the report, he got hurt during a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
While it has been called a low ankle sprain and it has been nearly two weeks since it was sustained, this is still a tough way for a wide receiver to enter the regular season. It is very likely that he will get listed as probable for the first game, which in itself seems to make it safe for fantasy owners to start him. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is very likely to target him a lot against the New Orleans Saints, so he remains a must-start in Week One as well.
After putting up some great numbers in the 2012 NFL season, White is projected to have another good year in 2013. He is definitely a top 10 receiver who could easily reach 90 catches, more than 1,300 receiving yards, and close to 10 touchdowns again. Some analysts might say that Julio Jones is the better receiver on the team, but having these two weapons certainly increases the value of Ryan as well.
This Roddy White injury situation is certainly something that Atlanta Falcons fans and fantasy football owners will want to keep paying attention to, but it seems like he should be on the first for most of the offensive plays in Week One.
